HNU Holds 2018 New Year's Gala of International Teachers and Students
On the night of December 29th, the 2018 New Year's Gala for International Teachers and Students was held at the Student Activity Center in Lide Building. Vice President of HNU, Li Dazhi presented and addressed at the Gala. Vice Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Tang Cunzhong hosted the opening ceremony.
Li Dazhi extended a warm welcome to the presented guests, teachers and students, and expressed his sincere appreciation to the hard work of staff and actors. He introduced gratifying achievements in international students management and international exchanges, stated HNU's determination to offer more considerate and caring service to international teachers and students, and sent his sincere new year' wishes to all the audience.
The gala began with the joyful song "The Belt and Road", in which international students expressed their understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative. After a hard a month-and-a-half training given by professional teachers, the dragon dance team and the Tai Chi team that consist of international students sent their special blessings to the audience in the most Chinese distinctive way.
Students from Indonesia sang a traditional Chinese folk song "The Banlan Flower Blossoms" with fluent Chinese and soft voice. Students from the South Korea performed a romantic antiphonal love song. Malaysian and Indonesian teenagers from the "A Root-seeking Journey in China" Winter Camp sang folk songs together. The gala also embraces cute traditional Indonesian dance, attractive exciting songs performed by the Zambian band, hot dances given by Japanese and South Korean students, and "If we hold on together" sung by Vietnamese and Indonesian students. What’s more, international students put on a humorous short play that displayed their psychological changes from alienation to familiarity during study.
The joyful gala also invited the Zuojialong Royal Jazz Band from the College of Music and HNU's popular band “Agravity”.
Tang Cunzhong announced the prize winners, and awarded the teams together with guests.
This grand annual gala, which was created, directed, and performed by international students, brought international students and teachers together. The New Year’s gala had become a representative activity of international students in HNU and was teeming with exotic and harmonious atmosphere.
Relevant person in charge of HNU, international teachers and students and participants from "A Root-seeking Journey in China" Winter Camp, altogether 300 people participated in the gala.
